Endowed Scholarships

The Ellsworth College Foundation is committed to providing scholarship opportunities based on academic achievement, financial need, and other merit-based criteria.
​​An endowed scholarship is a major gift donated to Ellsworth College Foundation and is used to fund scholarships for the Ellsworth Community College students. It often honors a donor's loved one or the donor themselves. The feature that most distinguishes endowed scholarships from other types of donations is that the capital in the endowed scholarship gift is preserved so that the gift can last indefinitely. 
We, at the Ellsworth College Foundation, are proud to offer over 130 endowed scholarships to our students at Ellsworth Community College. Each of these endowments are honoring a person, a passion and have a story behind the reason for giving.   We take great pride in being good stewards of these gifts and making sure the recipient meets the wishes of the generous donor.
Each recipient of an endowed scholarship is given a biography of the donor and is required to write a thank-you note for the scholarship they were awarded.  The thank-you is sent to the donor from the Ellsworth Foundation office to protect the privacy of both the donor and the recipient. 
The current minimum gift to establish an endowment is $10,000.  If you have been considering this type of life-long gift, please call our office at 641-648-8575.  We will be happy to set up a time to meet with you and discuss the benefits of this type of donation.
