Ways to Give

You can donate to help students at Ellsworth in many ways, whether it be today or in the future. All donations to the Ellsworth College Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Donations can be in the form of cash, check, stock, personal property, or real estate. Charitable trusts, bequests, and will provisions, and paid-up life insurance policies are examples of deferred gifts.  Donations can be made to Ellsworth College athletic/clubs/programs, endowments, a one-time scholarship award, our annual fund, Friends of the Pat Clark Art Collection, and E-Club.

Cash or credit card- Print and complete the Giving Form enclose your check made payable to Ellsworth College Foundation.

Matching Gifts- Many companies will match their employees’ donations to educational & non-profit organizations. Let us know if your employer will match your gift with a coordinating donation. Please include any necessary paperwork from your employer when returning the Giving Form to us. 

Charitable IRA Rollover- If you are 70 ½ years or older, you are required to make an annual distribution from your IRA accounts. These payments are included in your adjusted gross income (AGI), and you pay taxes on those distributions. The Charitable IRA Rollover permits taxpayers to make donations directly to charitable organizations from the IRA without including or counting the distribution in their AGI. This lessens your annual tax bill by lessening your AGI. Note: Iowa residents will still pay state income tax on the distribution, but not federal income tax.

​Thrivent Financial-The Foundation is an enrolled Thrivent Choice® organization and eligible Thrivent members can direct Choice Dollars® to us. The grants received will help the Foundation carry out the mission of funding scholarships for deserving Ellsworth students. Click on Thrivent Choice to participate.

C.T. Rierson Tribute Video
Ellsworth Community College Equine Center renamed the area C.T. Rierson Arena on July 11, 2023. In addition to renaming to the Equine Center, the Rierson legacy will live on going forward with the family donating land to the Ellsworth College Foundation. The intent is to use it for the upkeep and maintenance on the arena as well as providing scholarships for equine, medical, and teacher education students. This land once farmed with his horses and has been in the family since 1888.
