Dr. Paul and Rita Hoversten grew up on farms in the Alden Community School District. They were high school sweethearts. Paul attended Ellsworth Community College for one year; from 1969 to 1970. Paul then transferred to Northwest Missouri from 1970 to 1973 where he wrestled and earned a BS with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Paul went on to continue his studies at the University of Iowa earning his DDS in 1977. Rita attended Ellsworth from 1969 to 1971 and earned an Associate of Arts in Fashion Merchandising. She also worked at the campus library during her college tenure. After Paul's graduation, he enlisted in the United State Army and spent 4 years serving our nation. During this time, he and Rita lived in San Antonio, Texas; Stuttgart, Germany for 3 years and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Paul attained the rank of Captain. The couple returned to Iowa Falls in 1981 where Paul had a dental practice for 39 years. He retired in 2020. His son Quinn has taken over his practice. Rita worked at Ellsworth Community College in the tutoring office and library. She retired in 2007. They have 4 sons, Andrew, Brett, Quinn and Cade who are married and have added 12 grandchildren to date to the Hoversten family. The Hoversten son’s graduated from Iowa State University,University of Northern Iowa, and University of Iowa with majors includingComputer Engineering, Food Science, Dentistry, and Education. The family has been and remains active in the community. They belong to Bethany Lutheran Church, Lions Club, and the Elks. Paul has been on the Board of Directors of the Green Belt Bank and Trust for 23 years, served on the Ellsworth Foundation Board for 20 years and the local school board for 9 years. They have supported many community projects with their time and financial gifts.
