arry Paul was born on August 27, 1909 in Haverhill, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Haverhill and Laurel areas graduating from Melbourne High School in 1928. Harry played high school football and had a lifetime interest in the game. He farmed during his working years on the family farm, retiring in 1984. Mr. Paul was a longtime member of the Haverhill St. John’s United Church of Christ and a member of the Farm Bureau. He established several endowed scholarships through the years including a nursing scholarship at Marshalltown Community College, a ministerial scholarship at Trinity Bible College in North Dakota and in 1992, this endowed agriculture scholarship at Ellsworth Community College. In addition, he funded the Grace Hoy Nursing Scholarship at Ellsworth in memory of his cousin, a nurse for many years in Iowa Falls, who passed away in 1993. In his lifetime, Mr. Paul touched many lives and endeared himself to each one. He passed away on February 5, 1999 at the age of 89. He is survived by many cousins and his dear friends Herman and Alta Bollhoefer of Haverhill, Iowa.
