Lucile Dunn was born September 24, 1914 in Iowa Falls, to Earl and Sarah Alters Dunn. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School and received her associate in arts degree from Ellsworth Community College. She received her baccalaureate degree from what is now the University of Northern Iowa and did graduate work at both the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Iowa. She taught at Buckeye, Iowa, and Clarinda, Iowa, prior to moving to Cedar Rapids. Lucile was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church; Anna-Abigail Circle; United Methodist Women; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International; King’s Daughters International; College Club of Cedar Rapids; Religious Book Study Group; Retired Teachers, local, state and national; and was a life member of Iowa State Education Association. Ms. Dunn was a frequent donor to the Ellsworth College Foundation by establishing this endowed academic scholarship in 1992, participating in the very successful Second Century Challenge campaign, and also several annual fund drives. Lucile died on March 1, 1992 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa following a long illness. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. There are no immediate survivors.
