Joyce Lynn (Hoffman) Schager was born on January 26, 1945 in Hampton, Iowa. She was the middle daughter of Robert & Helen Hoffman and grew up on a farm near Buckeye. She attended grade school in Buckeye and graduated from Alden High School and later from Ellsworth Community College. Joyce was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and served on the Ellsworth College Foundation Board; she really enjoyed her work with The Pat Clark Art Collection. She was a talented seamstress and an excellent baker, her chocolate chip cookies and homemade rolls were favorites. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to watch them participate in their activities. She had a passion for University of Iowa Athletics and enjoyed attending home football games and Hawkeye Bowl games. Robert Schager was born on _______________________ in _____________. He enjoyed _____________ Robert and Joyce were high school sweethearts and married on March 11, 1966. They lived on a farm west of Alden and had three children Scott, Cindy Brown and Jason Schager. Joyce worked at the Buckeye Farm Store, then at the Alden State Bank and later as a business manager for the family farm. Joyce passed away August 26, 2017.
