lennon Warford was born in Hurdland, Missouri, in 1913 and in 1937 he married Ada Sheridan in Edina, Missouri. He received his bachelor of science degree and his master’s degree from Northeast Missouri University in Kirksville, Missouri. He was a teacher, coach and school administrator for 29 years prior to coming to Iowa Falls as the assistant superintendent of schools. Glen served in that position from 1961 until February of 1967 when he was appointed as the dean of Ellsworth Community College, a position he filled with distinction until his retirement in December of 1977.
Glen enjoyed travel and athletics, particularly Ellsworth athletics and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. He also enjoyed the challenge of a community college and his belief that community colleges were the greatest of all educational fields.
Glen and Ada have five children: Larry of Eugene, Oregon; Terry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mike of San Diego, California; Mrs. Gerald (Dixie) Buisman of Marion, Iowa; and Mrs. Rick (Pat) Wood of San Diego, California.
Glen passed away on October 17, 1983 and Ada passed away on June 19, 2015. His family directed that all memorial contributions be used to establish a scholarship in Glen’s name. Because of Glen’s strong commitment to education and athletics, the interest from the endowment will be used to provide scholarships to student athletes who attend Ellsworth Community College. The scholarships will be awarded annually to either male or female student athletes with preference given to students majoring in English or social studies, which were Mr. Warford’s academic areas.
